AS the regular season draws to a close, there is a packed programme of championship race action at Aghadowey Oval on Saturday evening, October 12.

Topping the bill are Irish Championship showdowns for both Ninja Karts and Superstox.

Ninja Karts

In the Ninja Karts for 6-11 year olds, Ahoghill’s Lewis Hazlett starts from pole position on points scored during the season.

The young flier has already bagged the World & National Championships this season, and will soon depart for the racing trip of a lifetime to represent the UK in South Africa

Cullybackey’s Keegan Turtle, plus the likes of Jack Murphy, Rowdy Grattan, Tommy Johnston, Jaxon Cairns and Ollie Williamson are sure to give it their all in pursuit of the Irish Championship title.

Superstox

Meanwhile, the all-action Superstox also contest their Irish Championship, defended by Portadown ace Lee Davison.

He will harbour hopes of a successful defence, but will have World Champion Jordan Robinson, NI Points Champion Steven Haugh and top local star Jamie McCann breathing down his neck.

Garvagh’s Dean Catherwood will be another contender, alongside Dungannon’s David McMenemy.

1300 Stock Cars

The blood and thunder 1300 Stock Cars will provide the hard hitting element of the evening, as they contest the Ulster Championship.

This one will see the drivers compete in two reversed grid heats ahead of the Ulster final, and the sparks are sure to fly!

Banbridge driver Gareth Halliday is the defending champion but a hot favourite will be the current form man in the class, Cullybackey’s Curtis Greer.

National Champion Robbie Wright will be another big threat, alongside Josh McKinstry, Gary Freeburn and Fionn Donnelly.

2.0 Hot Rods

The high speed 2.0 Hot Rods contest the final of the Hoosier Tyres Challenge Series and will provide the fastest racing of the evening. Portadown’s former World Champion Wayne Woolsey currently heads the standings.

But he will face stiff opposition from current World title holder Adam Heatrick, Irish Champion Conor Hughes, British Champion Drew McKeown and winner last time out at Aghadowey, Jordan Rochford.

The Thunder Rods will see a last round decider in the NI Points Championship, with Ballymena trio David Reynolds, Daniel Rodgers and James Goldie set to joust for the silverware as just a handful of points separate them after a close, competitive season of racing.

The Lightning Rods complete the programme, which begins at 6.30pm.
