THE Ahoghill in Bloom team of volunteers recently held a Celebration evening at the home of the Perry family in the village.
This provided the opportunity to mark the various successes in this year's In Bloom competitions.
Team leader Wallace Elder paid tribute to everyone who contributed to this year's success.
He thanked the volunteers for their hard work and commitment to the village. The support provided by the MEA Council staff was also recognised.
The Ahoghill Community Property Development Company has been very supportive over recent years. Financial assistance provided allowed for the purchase of a new village cart last year and the purchase of several thousand plants in 2025.
Wallace also paid tribute to the contribution made by various sponsors, local organisations and residents. Ben Vista Nursey has, over the years, provided invaluable advice and support.
Alderman Stewart McDonald congratulated John Small on being named as Volunteer of the Year in the Borough In Bloom awards and also John Wilson whose front garden was Runner Up in the Best Front Garden section.
Concluding remarks were provided by the Mayor, Cllr Jackson Minford.
He stated that he had been delighted to recognise the local volunteers at the recent MEA In Bloom Awards event in Larne.
He was also delighted that Ahoghill was awarded Small Town Runner Up at the Ulster in Bloom results event as well as being named as overall Winner of the Community Resilience Special award.
The Mayor commended the team of volunteers, under the inspirational leadership of Wallace Elder, for all of these wonderful achievements
Around 30 locals attended the 'celebratory supper' which provided the opportunity to mark another very successful year for Ahoghill in Bloom.'
