Broughshane PS pupils enjoy windfarm visit

THE children of Broughshane PS, P7 CN, had an amazing morning visiting the local wind farm site at Elginney, as part of their “World Around Us” project on Energy. They met 2 engineers from Orsted who answered their questions regarding the windfarm site and its technology.

They had the opportunity to try on the health and safety equipment and harnesses, before going inside the turbine to see how the wind energy is generated into electricity.

Two lucky pupils, James and Jay, were allowed to press the button to turn the turbine back on before they returned to school. Many thanks to Capital Dynamics for organising and facilitating this visit.
