Local community projects in the Ballymena area will have a chance to be awarded £1000 each by local housing association Choice Housing in partnership with the Department for Communities (DfC) and the NI Housing Executive.

Launching the “Choice Community Decision Day” event is Choice Housing’s Ursula Toner and Cyril Moorhead.

Community organisations in Ballymena can apply for the ‘Participatory Budgeting Programme’ aimed at giving local groups the opportunity to put forward proposals for funded programmes that would benefit the local area. The Participatory Budgeting Programme is being delivered as part of the Department for Communities and Housing Executive’s Shared Housing Programme – ‘Housing for All’, which has its origins in the NI Executive Together: Building a United Community Strategy (T:BUC).

This plan will aim to deliver tailored initiatives for the local community in an effort to strengthen community relations and form new partnerships for the good of the local area.

An event, to be held in Fairhill Shopping Centre, Ballymena on Saturday 16th November will have local groups engage with local residents to present their ideas that will be voted on. Local residents will vote for their favourite projects with the top groups to be awarded a prize of £1K each.

Community groups can now apply to participate in the Community Decision Day in Ballymena. There will be online information sessions held on 22nd October at 11am-12noon, and 24th October 7pm-8pm. This will explain the process to those interested. For an application form and to sign up for the online information sessions by emailing - info@ffksolutions.com
