A Ballymena based independent councillor says he is puzzled by a seeming lack of spending on signage maintenance in the local area.
Rodney Quigley says many road signs in the area are rendered virtually unreadable by a film of slimy green mould.
Others, he says, are obscured by uncut foliage.
Now he’s demanding that the Department of Infrastructure ‘get their act together’.
He told the Guardian: “There is a budget for maintenance but I have no idea where it has been spent. Many signs in this area have obviously not been cleaned for a considerable time.
“Anyone without Satnav would be lost if they had to depend on signage.
“I also believe it poses a road safety danger to the public.
“I’m calling on the Department to be pro-active and get out there to clean up.
“There are far too many instances of these problems locally.”
