A Girlguiding leader in Broughshane, Geraldine Linford, was recently presented with the Laurel Award, the second highest in Girlguiding.
Geraldine received it from the Chief Guide, Tracy Foster, at a ceremony at Lorne, the headquarters of Girlguiding Ulster, surrounded by many of her Girlguiding colleagues & friends.
The Laurel Award is given for an exceptional and outstanding contribution to Girlguiding.
Geraldine, who already holds an MBE for her services to youth work, has been in Girlguiding for over fifty-five years.
She was a trainer for thirty-eight of them, and has held senior appointments in Ulster, England, Germany, Cyprus, Gibraltar and the British Virgin Islands.
She currently runs the Brownies, Guides and Rangers in Broughshane and acts a Mentor to several new leaders.
