BT Blues Club hits the right notes for Mindwise

THE BT Blues Club hosted the award-winning blues artist Dom Martin on Saturday, December 17.

This was a special gig for the club as all proceeds from the gig were donated to Mindwise Mental Health Charity.

Dom Martin who kindly agreed to fit the gig into his busy schedule talked to the crowd about how mental health and support is very close to his own heart. Dom's power trio have been extensively touring UK and Eurpoe so it was a pleasure for Looi to welcome him to the BT Blues Club. Dom and his band belted out a full two hour set of the best in live rock and blues.

The trio is always an extremely popular addition to any blues/rock event and Saturday, December 17 was no different.

Dom always likes to include a Rory Gallagher song or two amongst his originals as he strives “to keep Rory’s music alive” and this is evident with him having won the UK Blues Awards Best Instrumentalist Award 2022 .

On the day, the BT Blues Club opened its doors to a sell-out crowd. Looi who has been managing the popular blues club for almost 19 years would like to thank all who assisted with organising the event. Special thanks goes out to David McKendry who works closely with Looi in organising the schedule for the year, Glenn Gilmore and all the staff at the BTPO Club, Alan Moore for sponsoring the band, all those who kindly donated gifts and prizes for the raffle and auction and last but certainly not least, all the regular supporters who attend the BT Blues Club...without these people the club would not survive.

The event raised almost £1500 which was donated to Jackie McCaughey from Mindwise Charity - we have no doubt that this donation will go a long way to help many of those in need of the valuable support the Mindwise Charity can offer.
