Adela scoops first prize in Down and Connor Arts and Poetry competition

ST Patrick's student, Adela Polakova has scooped a cash prize as she was awarded firstt prize in the Down and Connor Arts and Poetry, KS4 category.

Her winning poem was written on the theme of 'My Family' which marked the beginning of Catholic Schools week.

It is a high point of the catechetical programme for primary and postprimary schools.

During Catholic Schools Week 2018, Catholic school families are invited to participate in a week of celebration and reflection on the theme Catholic Schools: Families of Faith.

Dublin, has been chosen by Pope Francis to host the World Meeting of Families 2018.

This event presents a special opportunity for school families to not only celebrate the fact that parents are the primary educators of their children, but also the vital role that Catholic schools play in assisting parents in their duty to raise their children.

Adela attended an award ceremony in St. Mary's University last week where she received her prize of £125.

Bishop Noel Treanor was a guest at the event.

There were over 500 entrants and the school is delighted to see Adela’s talent being recognised.
