BALLYMENA & District HPS – Show season continued on Monday evening.

Classes T/W for Yearling Cock and Yearling Hen.

The judges travelled in from Kells & District, big winners at NIPA Ladies Night Geoff Surgenor who won the Talbenny Nat and Davy Jackson 1st Open in the second Area YB Lib from Mullingar.

It was a night of success for home based lofts with Darren Swann winning Red Card in the Yearling Hen while R Service & Son won Yearling Cock and Best in Show.

Yearling Hen (54 Birds) – 1st D Swann, 2nd, VHC & HC W & N Gilbert, 3rd & Reserve B Herbison, 4th D & G McMullan, Commended T McFall. Yearling Cock (83 Birds) – 1st, VHC & Commended R Service & Son, 2nd & 3rd Blair & Rankin, 4th D & G McMullan, Reserve B Herbison, HC W & N Gilbert. Remaining show classes are 19th November Old Pairs & Young Pieds, 26th November Young Pairs & Old Pieds, 3rd December, Red, Mealy & Grizzle OB & YB, 10th December Old Bird & Young Bird Eye-sign.

Broughshane & District HPS – Judges travelled from East Antrim to place the cards at the most recent show classes for the hens through wires in Broughshane last Tuesday.

Ace racers from Doagh & District Fred Simpson and Sammy Leitch were well pleased with the condition of Darren Swann’s birds, the Ballymena & Dist member collected 10 cards in total and had the Red Card in both Old Hens & Young Hens.

Old Hens T/W – 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, Reserve & HC D Swann, VHC & Commended N & S Anderson. Young Hens T/W – 1st, 2nd, Reserve & VHC D Swann, 3rd J Getty, 4th R & S Swann, HC D Houston, Commended J & J Greer. Raffle winner Tom Cole.

Thanks to Jamie Lee Christie for supplying the competitors with her home-made buns, delicious. Remaining show series dates are as follows, 20th November - Old Bird eye sign / young bird mated pairs.

Kells & District – Last Wednesday evening the club penned 98 birds in the Old Hens judged Through Wires by Jackie & Sammy Graham from Kingsmoss.

Victor Montgomery had two cards including 1st. Old Hens T/W (98 Birds) – 1st & Reserve V Montgomery, 2nd, 4th & Commended A Barkley & Son, 3rd Surgenor Bros, VHC & HC B Swann & Son. Kells & District HPS shows will continue with - 21st November young cocks, 8th November young hens, 5th December mated pairs, 12th December eye-sign and pieds. All classes are through wires.

Ahoghill Flying Club – The 3rd show for Ahoghill was young cocks and hens handled, William Livingstone for the local club won both classes and judge from Gracehill was Roy Balmer.

The raffle was won by T & G Balmer. Young Cocks Handled – 1st, 3rd & 4th W Livingstone, 2nd, Reserve, VHC & Commended T & G Balmer, HC M/M Robinson. Young Hens Handled – 1st & Reserve W Livingstone, 2nd T & G Balmer, 3rd, VHC & HC M/M Robinson, 4th B Herbison, Commended T McFall. Coming up - Friday 23/11/18 Old Cocks and Hens Handled, Friday 30/11/18 Young Pairs and Fancy, Friday 7/12/18 Old Pairs and Late-breds, Friday 14/12/18 Old Bird and Young Bird Eye-sign. Tea and refreshments will be served during judging, visitors are very welcome, penning in clubrooms from 7.00pm.

Cullybackey HPS – Mr & Mrs Magill from Randalstown former Kings Cup winners were the judges last Saturday evening when the classes were Young Birds Handled.

Brian Herbison for the home club won both classes and had Best in Show. Young Cocks Handled – 1st & Commended B Herbison, 2nd & 3rd J & J Greer, 4th C Donnelly, Reserve & HC J McNaghten & Son, VHC N & S Anderson. Young Hens Handled – 1st & 2nd B Herbison, 3rd & Commended C & R McIntyre, 4th J & J Greer, Reserve & VHC McAlonan Bros, HC C Donnelly. Next week 24th November Old Cocks & Late Breds Handled, 1st December Old Hens Handled & Fancy T/W, 8th December OB & YB Eye-sign. Keep Saturday 15th December free for the Annual 3 in 1 Open Show.
