Ballymena Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry hosted a very successful Business Breakfast 'Celebrating Women in Business' in the Adair Arms House Hotel on Wednesday, April 17.

Chamber President Alderman Robin Cherry MBE welcomed over 60 representatives from local businesses to the event.

Keynote speaker for the morning was Anne Donaghy, Chief Executive Mid and East Antrim Borough Council. Anne shared her personal story touching on both her family and business lives. In addition to sharing her personal story Anne also informed the audience of the exciting plans for business growth in the area including the St. Patrick’s Barracks project, Belfast City Deal and the Heathrow Hub project.

Following Anne's presentation Gillian Matthews, owner of Willow Beauty, Broughshane Street and Ciara Osborne, proprietor of Knockdene Healthcare both shared their business journeys talking about how they developed their business ideas and how with hard work they were able to turn their ideas into successful businesses in Ballymena. Each of the presenters shared similar messages with the audience. They emphasised the need to have a vision and then to have the drive and determination to make that vision a reality and overcome any obstacles in your way.

Feedback from delegates attending the event was extremely positive and the Chamber will certainly organise further events on similar themes. A number of other events have already been organised and full details can be found on the Chambers website.
