AUNT Neenies - Ballymena’s newest café by day, restaurant by night is open for business on Greenvale Street.

The family run business is offering customers the best in local fresh produce in a new, modern and fully renovated restaurant.

Fine fresh food is the top priority at the new Greenvale Street restaurant.

Working under head chef Bobby Cahoon’s direction, staff will prepare food that will be sure to tickle your taste buds and excite your palate.

Owner Thomasina Adair said it was important that food is freshly prepared.

“I always said the restaurant should and would only serve fresh, local produce, and all the cooking and baking will be done in house.

“Our team are passionate about serving good food to our customers, and we strive to only serve the best of home cooking.”

Opening at 8.30am Monday to Saturday, treat yourself to breakfast in Aunt Neenies.


The breakfast menu features popular items such as the full Ulster Fry featuring sausages, bacon, beans, eggs, soda bread and potato bread all freshly made to order. Fry items only cost 60p each and every fry will be accompanied by free tea or coffee.

Scrambled egg and toast is also on the menu and for those wishing to have a healthier breakfast there will be smoked salmon or porridge made to order.

Freshly baked on site scones and pancakes will also be available at breakfast time, and all food will be available to take away, therefore catering for that customer who has to go to work!

Aunt Neenies is the perfect place to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the town and get re-energised for shopping.

Enjoy their expansive lunch menu and table service, featuring hot meals including fresh locally sourced roasts and pasta dishes accompanied by your choice of chips, potatoes and rice.

Sandwiches, Paninis and wraps will be freshly made to order from the deli counter and a daily lunch time special will feature every day.

Thomasina is excited her new venture is up and running. She told the Guardian: “We are all really looking forward to welcoming customers.

“It’s been six months in the planning stage so to now see it open and customers come through the doors is excellent.”

She explained the renovation, saying: “We completely refurbished and renovated the restaurant. We put down new carpets, modernised the upstairs conference room and recovered and sprayed the table and chairs, plus purchased comfortable sofas for our relaxed area.

“Basically nothing is the same as before and everything is new or improved, down to the very knives and forks!”

Aunt Neenies is open for business seven days a week from 8.30pm to 4.30pm.

Late night openings for delicious evening meals on Thursdays, Fridays and with last orders being taken at 8.30pm. Sunday lunch opening times are from 12.30pm.
