Mid and East Antrim's Mayor, Councillor Lindsay Millar is set to host 'The Mayor's Charity Ball', in aid of Air Ambulance NI.

The glamorous black tie event will be held on Friday March 1, 2019 in the Galgorm Resort and Spa's Great Hall.

Highlights of the event will include a red carpet and drinks on arrival, before guests can enjoy a sit-down four course dining menu featuring local produce and a live band.

The entertainment will also include an auction and a ballot to which businesses, organisations and individuals are invited to donate prizes to help raise money on the night.

The mayor is appealing for support from the Mid and East Antrim community, and tickets, priced at £50 per person will be available from the Braid box office.

Mayor Councillor Lindsay Millar, said: "I’m really pleased and proud to be supporting such an invaluable cause during my term. Air Ambulance NI provides a vital service and helps save lives, but is a voluntary organisation which needs support.

"Mid and East Antrim covers 400 square miles, has 62 miles of coastline, with many who live here in rural areas. This vast space requires a service like the Air Ambulance to provide emergency cover.

“This charity ball and auction is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the fantastic work they do at AANI and to help raise vital funds they need to maintain the service. It’s also a great chance to let my hair down and celebrate a fantastic year as Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, all for a great cause.

“The night promises to be great craic! Make sure you don’t miss out and you’re your tickets now and grab your mates to come along. We also need some lovely prizes for the auction so any businesses who want to donate, we would really appreciate it!”

Michelle McDaid, Area Fundraising Manager, AANI said: “We were delighted to be chosen as the Mayor’s charity for 2018/2019. We have been operational for just over one year and to date our Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) has been tasked to over 550 trauma incidents across our region. The support from this partnership will not only raise our profile and awareness but also much-needed funds to keep this vital service sustained. We look forward to attending the Mayor’s ball and encourage the people of Mid and East Antrim to support what promises to be a fantastic night.”
