Detectives investigating a series of burglaries in Ballymena at the weekend are appealing for information.

Detective Sergeant Emme Wallace said: “Five houses in Phoenix Fields, a business premises and a house in Railway Street were targeted in a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries which we are treating as linked at this time. The incidents all occurred between 11.30pm on Saturday night and around 3am on Sunday morning. A number of items, including a mountain bike and a sum of cash were reported stolen during the incidents.

“A 32 year old male was arrested in the vicinity of Railway Street on suspicion of a number of offences. He was interviewed and subsequently released on police bail pending further enquiries.

“I would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Railway Street or Phoenix Fields area of the town on Saturday night or Sunday morning or who has any information which could assist us with our enquiries to contact officers in the Reducing Offending Unit in Ballymena on 101 quoting reference number 1613 10/11/18. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
