Floral art blooms again

JANET Wilson, Chairman of Ballymena Floral Art Group, welcomed a further seven new members to the October meeting bringing the total new membership to 14 since the new season commenced in September in new premises in West Church Hall.

At the October meeting, Heather Hume, club member, Area Demonstrator and double medal winner at Chelsea, held everybody spellbound with her demonstration entitled, 'Floral Horizons'.

There was a wonderful array of entries for the Club competition entitled 'Copper Glow', results of which were as follows:-

Novice Class: 1st Molleen Reid

Intermediate Class: 1st Eileen McFall, 2nd Laura McMaster

Open Class: 1st Margaret Bamford, 2nd Colleen Hamill, 3rd Mary Knox BEM,

VHC Julie Carlisle, HC Janet Wilson

Margaret Bamford was also awarded The Ann Sambrook Trophy (Judge's Choice).

The Club’s Annual Open Night will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at 7.30pm in Leighinmohr House Hotel.

James Burnside, Demonstrator, Teacher, Judge and Speaker is back by popular demand and will entertain with his demonstration entitled ‘Inspired by Christmas’.

Payment at the door £10 to include light refreshments.

The receiving charity this year will be 'Batten Disease'.

The Ivan Watt MacMillan Trophy Competition75cms x 60 cms, will also be hosted that evening - this competition is open to everyone, whether a member of a flower club or not.

Competition rules are available on facebook. All entries are welcome.

This event is open to the general public and the club would very much value support for this very worthy cause.
