Due to ongoing growth and the success of Jane’s Kitchen event catering, regrettably it is no longer viable to operate our retail service, ‘The Reading Room’ situated at Main Street Broughshane, with effect from Monday 11th July 2018.

The successful food business, however, will remain in Broughshane with a shift of focus to its busy and demanding event catering service with a revamp of current facilities.

The family run company , consisting of Jane Allen, her husband David and their children Katherine, James and Sara, began in 1988, at Clougher, Co. Antrim, Jane’s home place, where Jane decided to turn her natural talent in the kitchen into a career, providing food for close friends and family, Jane’s Kitchen quickly became a booming business.

Jane’s husband, David, joined to create the working partnership that is the core of Jane’s Kitchen today and three decades later, the Jane’s Kitchen Team comprises of many talented individuals working together to create and deliver exciting events in spectacular venues and marquee structures throughout Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and across the United Kingdom and even recently completed a wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland.

With years of experience in provision of food and service to the private and corporate sectors, Jane’s Kitchen offers an unrivalled level of expertise and attention to detail, affording you peace of mind that your event is in excellent hands.

The business works with suppliers who share our core values and ensure produce of the very highest quality.

TEAM

Katherine Allen studied Business Management with Events and Marketing at Queen Margaret University , Edinburgh.

Katherine spent 23 months working for a hugely successful and established leading catering company ‘By Word of Mouth’ based in London ,before returning to the family business.

This experience has been invaluable in developing Jane’s Kitchen as a market leader in food and service.

Katherine’s passion lies with efficient food service; internally recruiting and training our waiting team, creative menu planning with Jane and Sara, logistics onsite and the over-all customer experience received at Jane’s Kitchen.

James Allen joined the family business from school. James is the Logistics Manager within the company and he and his team ensure that all equipment required for every event is delivered on site prior to the arrival of the set up and kitchen team .

Sara Allen studied International Hospitality and Tourism Management at Queen Margaret University , Edinburgh. Sara continued her training by completing a 12 week Ballymaloe Cookery Course in the Spring 2018.

Sara now heads up the JK Kitchen Team alongside her mother’s knowledge and expertise.

Sara’s love of home baking and seasonal cooking is a core focus of hers.

Jane’s kitchen has a dedicated team of office and kitchen staff who share the family values of quality food and service.

David , Jane and family would like to thank all their loyal customers and especially the Reading Room clientele , who have supported the coffee shop during the past 18 years.

The social aspect of the store - chatting to customers and the community feel is something Jane and the staff will miss, however, Jane's Kitchen will still have a presence in Broughshane as the business will continue to operate from the village location.
