A BALLYMENA man wowed 35,000 people playing the drums alongside The Killers last week.
Danny Ross was welcomed onto the stage at the RDS in Dublin by the band.
The 26-year-old was at the event with three friends.
Speaking to the Guardian he said it "was really cool" to be on stage with a band who have been his "heroes" since he was 13.
"I had watched a few Youtube videos where the band had invited people up to play. That's where the idea came from," Danny explained.
"It was my friends who were the driving force behind it all.
"They thought it would be a good idea to get a cardboard box and a few sharpie pens and write "Can I drum please?".
To Danny's amazement lead singer, Brandon Flowers, mouthed the words 'Which song?'.
Within minutes the former Ballymena Academy pupil was handed a set of drumsticks and was beating out the song 'For Reasons Unknown'.
"I play the drums at a semi-professional level so I was confident in being able to hold my own," Danny said.
"It was amazing to play with a band who I have idolised for so long.
“I probably wouldn't have pushed the idea as much if my mates hadn't been there but I am glad they did."
When the song finished Danny quickly grabbed a selfie with Brandon Flowers and was also told the keep the drumsticks as a memento.
Danny is now going to enjoy the rest of the Summer before starting a PGCE in Coleraine University in September.
