BALLYMENA Walking For Heath Group’s sponsored walk has raised £2,000 for SHINE!

The walk took place at Newtowncrommelin with over 100 members taking part.

At Tullyglass House Hotel, Cathy McKillop, the Director of SHINE, which stands for Spina bifida, Hydrocephalus, Information, Networking and Equality, was presented with the cheque by Joan Stevenson, the Walking Club treasurer.

Cathy elaborated on the work carried out by SHINE and how it provides specialist support for a family expecting a baby with spina bifida and/or hydrocephalus and related conditions, from the early stages of the baby's development in the womb.

SHINE works with the families to help each child overcome the challenges they will meet throughout their lives, so that they can achieve their best.

Interwoven with this, is providing the relevant support to the entire family too.

An excellent meal was enjoyed by everyone present at Tullyglass and Brian Smyth thanked all those who had contributed to the success of the event.

To conclude proceedings there was a display of line dancing which had been organised by Josie Higgins.
