CLIONA Hagan, who returns with her band to the Tullyglass House Hotel, Ballymena on Saturday night, is certainly living life in the fast lane just now.
Not only is the Tyrone singer fulfilling a hectic series of engagements but she has just released her latest single as well as a new album.
The single ‘McCarthy’s Party’ is a lively, bouncy number calculated to engender the summer spirit while Cliona’s CD entitled ‘Secret love’ encompasses such songs as ‘Born to run’, ‘The wilder your heart beats’, ‘Handle with care’ and ‘Stop cheatin’ on me’.
Both the single and album are the products of long hours spent in the recording studio but Cliona clearly feels that all the effort was well worthwhile.
“I had been hoping to get into the studio to finish the album and I must say that I am delighted with the final product,” says Cliona.
“We put a lot of hard work into it. I was very keen to record all the songs because I had them ear-marked for some time. The fact that the single and album are out now at the start of the summer could hardly be more opportune because of the number of festivals and other events at which we are currently playing.”
The single ‘McCarthy’s Party’ is an infectious song which has the capacity to parachute the personable Cliona further up the popularity ladder.
Not surprisingly, it will be very much part of her repertoire at the Tullyglass House Hotel on Saturday night where she can expect a warm reception from her many followers in the area.
“On the occasion of our last visit there we had a ball,” recalls Cliona.
“There was a tremendous atmosphere and the dance floor was full from the word go. Hopefully it will be a case of same again on Saturday. We will certainly be pulling out all the stops.”
Doors open at the Tullyglass at 9.00pm and Cliona and her band will be on stage at 11.00.
