Thursday, 28 December 2017

BALLYMENA Raceway ushers in the New Year with a festive feast of short circuit motorsport on Monday, January 1.
The Showgrounds oval begins 2018 with the McCarroll Plant Hire sponsored Winter National Championships, where the National Hot Rods, F2 Stock Cars, Stock Rods, Group Two Lightning Rods and Street Rods will provide the race action.
In the elite National Hot Rod division local favourites Carl Sloan from Kells and Jaimie McCurdy from Broughshane will seek to begin 2018 with a victory, but former World Champion Keith Martin from Dungannon will be another to watch out for.
The Stock Rod races are sure to be hotly disputed, with current World Champion Stephen McCready the one to beat! Antrim ace McCready enjoyed a success laden 2017 campaign and will be keen to stamp his authority once again.
Adam Sloan, Jason Clyde and Aaron Moody are amongst those likely to figure strongly in the results and Scottish trio Jim Pitcaithly, Trevor Calvin and Lee McGill are also scheduled to make the journey across the Irish Sea for this one.
The meeting programme is completed by races for the F2 Stock Cars, Group Twos and Street Rods, with the first race getting underway in the Ballymena Showgrounds at 2pm.
