Ballymena First XV secure place in final! thumbnailBallymena on the attack against Ballynahinch at Eaton Park. Gb4791R.P54

BALLYMENA, who suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Ballynahinch the previous Saturday, got their act together at the weekend and knocked the Senior Cup holders out of the competiton at Eaton Park on Saturday.
Both coaches made a raft of changes, with Andy Graham selecting a number of younger players.
Conditions were almost perfect at Eaton Park and both sides showed a willingness to play with ball in hand, with the opening exchanges being fairly even.
In a tight first half Ballymena registered a try through centre Angus Kernohan and a penalty by Callum Patterson, making a welcome return, while Ballynahinch had only two penalties by out half Justin Rea to show for their efforts.
The half time score of 8-6 in Ballymena's favour was fair enough reflection of what had gone on - they had scored the only try of the half and the defence had neutralised the Ballynahinch attack.
The second half was a repeat of the first, both sides enjoying periods of dominance, with defences on top.
If anything Ballymena looked the better side, making a few line breaks, but the 'Hinch defence held firm.
