‘We’ve no plans to give up Cup’ - Jeffrey

Thursday, 16 November 2017

DAVID Jeffrey is in no mood to relinquish the BetMcLean Northern Ireland League Cup, writes Shaun O'Neill.
“The simple message is we are the holders of this Cup and we do not intend to give it up easily," declared Jeffrey.
“ I am very well aware of the size of the mountain we have to climb (against Ards). But we are the holders, we do not want to surrender something we won. The idea is when you win something you go and win it again. That is what we are looking to do."
On Wednesday night United take on Ards in the quarter-final at Ballymena Showgrounds (7.45pm).
The Sky Blues go into the Cup clash in confident mood after their 2-1 home win over League champions Linfield on Friday night.
Two wonder goals - one from Conor McCloskey and one from Johnny McMurray - earned Ballymena victory and three precious Premiership points.
Now United focus on the visit to Ards, who a few weeks ago they beat 6-3 at the Showgrounds!
“That was a mad, mad game," recalled Jeffrey. "At times we looked really, really good and at times we looked really, really vulnerable."
Ballymena will have to check on injured duo Johnny Flynn and Andrew Burns.
Both limped off in Friday night's League game with the Blues.
United are unbeaten in their last FOUR games.
