“It’s big challenge” - says David Jeffrey

Thursday, 28 September 2017

DAVID Jeffrey says meeting form side Coleraine this weekend will be a big challenge for him and his side, writes Shaun O'Neill. The Bannsiders come to town UNBEATEN in their opening EIGHT Premier League games - winning SEVEN and drawing ONE.
Ballymena United have won THREE, drawn ONE and lost FOUR!
United manager Jeffrey is full of praise for the job Coleraine boss Oran Kearney has done - but will he hoping the Sky Blues bring Coleraine's most impressive run to an end at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
It has all the ingredients of a classic 'derby'. Coleraine are keen to keep their unbeaten run intact, while United are anxious for three points to keep them moving in the right direction.
At the weekend United scored a 3-1 away win over Ballinamallard United, with goals from Leroy Millar, Tony Kane (penalty) and Cathair Friel.
In Belfast 10-man Coleraine - they had Josh Carson sent off - played out a scoreless draw with Glentoran.
Saturday brings United and Coleraine together for the first time this season.
Last term Ballymena won the Boxing Day showdown at home, winning 2-0.
Kearney's side got sweet revenge by knocking United out of the Irish Cup, winning 4-1 in Ballymena.
Add to this United beat the Bannsiders 3-0, after extra time, in the semi-final of the League Cup, and it could be said it was ding dong throughout.
Jeffrey says Kearney deserves a lot of credit putting together a most youthful, useful side.
This season United have made a sluggish start, shipping quite a few goals in the process.
But the Sky Blues have been ravaged with injuries - not a subject Jeffrey blames for their misfortune.
