BALLYMENA United will play Norwegian side Odd-BK in the first qualifying round of this seasons UEFA Europa League, writes Shaun O'Neill.
United Chairman John Taggart and Vice-Chairman, Don Stirling, were in UEFA headquarters Nyon in Switerzland on Monday for the draw.
Chairman Mr. Taggart said it was an absolute pleasure seeing the Ballymena United name on the big screen!
“It is brilliant to be in such a tournament," Mr. Taggart told Guardian Sport.
United are away to Odd on Thursday, June 29, with the return leg at Seaview on July 6.
It is quite a few years since United last played in Europe.
The town is buzzing as the Sky Blues prepare for next week's trip.
Ballymena United manager David Jeffrey said Odd-BK - who are the oldest club in Norway - are currently fourth in their table, a few points behind the leaders.
Speaking to Guardian Sport Jeffrey said it is was important to get a draw which offered reasonable travel arrangements - and this did that.
“Norway is quite straight forward," summed up the man who has played before in Norway, against Rosenborg with Linfield, and then managed the Blues against them.
