Steven Davis MBE! thumbnailAbsolutely delighted! Cullybackey’s Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis -MBE! GB25Steven D

CULLYBACKEY man Steven Davis has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list!
The Northern Ireland captain said when first told about it he thought it was a prank.
But when the Honours list was announced last week Davis, who plays for Southampton in the English Premiership, found out it was for real.
Davis is just five caps short of the magical 100 milestone.
The MBE is for his services to football.
Last year the 32-year-old led his country at the Euro Championships in France.
He hopes to repeat the feat at next summer's World Cup finals in Russia.
“To get recognition like this when I'm still playing is a massive thing. It has been a truly unforgettable few years for everyone connected with Northern Ireland football," he said.
Davis said he has experienced some of the best moments in his career playing for N.I..
“To receive an honour like this is a really proud moment and so different to anything I have been used to," he said.
The midfielder made his full international against Canada in 2005.
Since being made captain when Ballymena man Michael O'Neill took over as manager in 2012, Davis had led by example.
