The Shamrocks and Dunloy to contest U21 Hurling Decider

Thursday, 18 May 2017

LOUGHGIEL and Dunloy will contest this season's Under 21 hurling championship final following their semi final successes last week.
The Shamrocks beat Ballycastle, 5-10 to 1-12 while Dunloy put an end to St John's, 2-19 to 0-5.
Dunloy certainly had things all their own way as they made mince meat of St John's, permitting them just three first half scores and two in the second.
After beating the holders Cushendall in their quarter final game the Cuchullians had their tails up and they made life extremely difficult for their Belfast opponents. So much so indeed that it was all but over at the half way mark when they led 1-9 to 0-3.
With Conal Doherty Cunning and Keelan Molloy in exceptional scoring form St John's had no chance with Doherty Cunning hitting four first half points and Molloy crashing home a goal and two.
Others to chip in were Eamon Smith with two and Sean Elliott with a single as the opposition struggled to get points in the first, 12th and 22nd minutes.
It got worse for the Johnnie's in the second half as Dunloy continued to hit them with everything. Declan Smith led the charge with points in the fourth and 12th minutes with Cunning Doherty, Keelan Molloy, Sean Elliott and Ronan Molloy all adding to their total.
