Braid men too hot to handle

Thursday, 11 May 2017

BALLYMENA 'A' made the long journey to Bangor last Thursday night to play Pickie 'A' in the first round of the NIPGL Senior Cup.
And if this had have been a boxing match the contest would have been stopped at the half way stage.
After one end had been completed across the green the Ballymena men lead 12-0 and one end later the lead was 19-0.
At the half way stage of the game the advantage was up to 42 shots and the Pickie men eventually called it a day with several ends still to play having been outplayed and eventually going down by nearly 60 shots.
Scott Jess, Graham Wilson, Steven Falls and Nigel Robinson made a great start on rink 1 against W Angus and with 6 ends completed the Braid men lead by 15 shots to 0.
Ten ends later Robinson's men had increased their advantage to 19 shots but the icing on the cake came on the next end when the Ballymena men picked up a maximum count of 8 shots which propelled them to a dominant 37-11 victory.
On rink 2 JR Nicholl, Rod Coleman, Alistair Coleman and Steven Coleman took on D Mills and 2 counts of 4 shots during the first 11ends saw the Ballymena men lead by 17 shots to 6.
