Thursday, 4 May 2017

DUNLOY senior hurlers couldn't believe their luck as they got their Division 1 league campaign under way.
With their opening game against Loughgiel not played last week they were in fine fettle when they entertained Down side Ballygalget and sent them home five point losers.
While this happening at Dunloy both Loughgiel and Cushendall were already losing ground when both failed in their away games. Loughgiel were beaten by Ballycran while Rossa handed out a 2-15 to 1-9 hammering of the Ruairi Ogs.
Dunloy won 1-18 to 2-10 after leading 1-10 to 1-4 at the break. An early ninth minute goal saw the Down side put it up top their North Antrim opponents but when Kevin Molloy found the net seven minutes from the break they were back on track.
Alastair Dooey Nigel Elliott and Kevin Molloy fired over eary second half points and, despite the Down side getting a second goal nine minutes from time they were unable to haul in Dunloy's big lead.
