THE new Ballymena Raceway season roars off the starting grid on Good Friday (April 14) with a high octane programme of races for short circuit motorsport fans to enjoy.
As is customary the Stock Rod racers contest their Yokohama Championship at the season opener and the event will carry added significance with Raceway hosting the Stock Rod World Championship later in the year.
The Yokohama will provide an early indication of the likely frontrunners for the big one and has attracted an entry from all across the UK which would grace the World Championship event itself!
Current World Number One Luke Oliver makes the long journey over from his base in East Sussex to head the entry list and is joined on the grid by current European Champion and defending Yokohama Champion Michael Bethune from Fife.
British and Scottish Champion Jim Pitcaithly, Irish Champion Adam Sloan and previous Yokohama Champions Steven McKane and Michael McFall are just some of the other top names on the star studded entry list.
Local favourites Aaron Moody, Niall McFerran, Jack Kennedy, Tim Hazlett and Points Champion Jason Clyde will feature in the thick of it too, along with former Irish Champions Alastair Bolton and Wilfie McNiece, and keep an eye out too for returnees Raymond Harper and Stephen McCready.
