Allen hat-trick, and Friel sent off!

Thursday, 23 March 2017

CURTIS Allen bagged a hat-trick as the Glens coasted to victory over 10-man United at the Showgrounds on Saturday.
Ballymena had leading scorer Cathair Friel sent off with little over half an hour played.
He was involved in an off-the-ball incident with Marcus Kane - and paid the price.
Two minutes in and Friel fired just wide after a cross from Joseph McKinney.
Then McKinney had a shot defelected and after the scramble that followed the Referee awarded United a free kick, the linesman saying there had been a back pass.
Kevin Braniff thumped in the free, it thudded off the wall and Leroy Millar had his effort from the rebound blocked by Ross Redmond.
With nine minutes gone Allen glanced a header, from a Nacho Novo cross, goal bound - but for a top class one handed save by 'keeper Tim Allen.
Glens striker Allen put the visitors in front on the half hour from the penalty spot.
