FORMER Ballymena Road Club cyclist Ryan Connor became only the second rider ever to win the covered Tour of the North race THREE times!
The Ahoghill ace, who now lives in American, told Guardian Sport his feat was a great honour - but made it clear it is the memories of the races that he cherishes most!
“It was a great honour to become only the second person to win the race three times, after Stan Brittain won the first three," recalled Connor.
‘But it is the memories of each race that I remember most. From the support during the race to the nights out with the club after the last Stage which was brought to Ballymena Showgrounds for a Ballymena game and having a Ballymena team lining out a bunch of incredibly strong riders with the goal of getting me the win.
Now we just need the next Ballymena rider to win it again
And the three times Tour of the North winner has one wish - That some other rider from Ballymena wins the prestigious title!
Connor is featured this week in Guardian Sport, a couple of weeks after fellow BRC rider, and Tour of the North winner, Andrew Moss got the headlines.
