TONY Kane is in a race against time to make Saturday's NI League Cup final at Seaview (5.30pm).
The versatile Ballymena United player limped off in the closing minutes of Saturday's Premiership clash with League champions Crusaders at Seaview.
Manager David Jeffrey told Guardian Sport his star man has hamstring trouble.
“He is a concern," said Jeffrey. "A big concern. Anthony will get treatment all week and be given every opportunity to be ready. Against Crusaders he wanted to stay on, but I wanted him off, as I did not want to take any risks."
Jeffrey is a major admirer of Kane, who plays at either full-back of midfield.
“He is a significant player, and a very integral part of what we do," summed up the United boss.
Against the Crues he fired home yet another stunning free-kick from the edge of the box to make it 2-1 at Seaview on Saturday.
The goal brought his tally to EIGHTEEN for the season, and remarkably a dozen of those came from the penalty spot!
Ballymena United sports therapist Gordon McCartney will work flat out this week, hoping Kane will be given the green light in time for Saturday's show-piece final at Seaview.
