MID and East Antrim Mayor, Councillor Audrey Wales, said she is particularly delighted that the League Cup final features TWO teams from the Borough!
On Saturday David Jeffrey's Ballymena United tackle Aaron Callaghan's Carrick Rangers in the show-piece at Seaview (5.30pm).
"I would like to extend my best wishes to both Ballymena United Football Club and Carrick Rangers Football Club on their forthcoming appearances in the Northern Ireland Football League Cup final on Saturday - a repeat of the 1984 Irish Cup Final - that resulted in a Ballymena win, on that occasion," outlined Cllr. Wales.
“As Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, I am particularly delighted that this final involves not just one, but both teams coming from our own Borough. I wish them both good luck and I am very much looking forward to attending the game."
At the recent full meeting of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council Cllr. Wales quipped - "As Mayor I might have a wee bit of a difficulty as to where I sit that night."
