The global sports and entertainment leader announced that the 23-year-old will be represented by Octagon Golf's Mitchell Tweedie.
The Raceview Golf Club member said he is thrilled to begin the next chapter of his career with an agency focused on his long-term development.
“I am confident that Octagon is the right agency to help me transition to the professional ranks."
McElroy's season starts this Thursday, January 19, with the Gecko Tour, and will play the EuroPro Tour and Challenge Tour beginning in March.
Speaking to Guardian Sport prior to his departure McElroy said he was looking forward to the event - and said one of his aims later this year is to compete in the NI Open at Galgorm Castle Golf Club!
Meanwhile, Stuart Cage, Director of Octagon Global Golf, said they are pleased that Dermot has selected Octagon to help him take the next step in his career.
“Dermot has a bright future as a professional and we are looking forward to helping him fulfill his potential," he said.
McElroy's amateur career highlights include wins at the 2015 West of Ireland Championship and the 2013 North of Ireland Open Strokeplay at Galgorm Castle.
He also finished as a semi-finalist at both the 2016 West of Ireland Championship and North of Ireland Championship.
McElroy had a very impressive 2015, registering Top Ten finishes at The Irish Amateur, the Lytham Trophy, the Brabazon Trophy and the European Strokeplay Championship.
