Break, then back to business for Buccaneers clash

Thursday, 19 January 2017

BALLYMENA RFC First XV get a break this weekend - and then prepare for their All Ireland Division 1B clash with League leaders Buccaneers on Saturday, January 28, writes Shaun O'Neill.
Head coach Andy Graham had hoped to watch a few of the promising young players last weekend - but their Ulster League match with Armagh at Eaton Park was postponed due to the rather Wintery elements.
They will train this week, enjoy the weekend break, and then all thoughts will turn to the Buccaneers match in Athlone.
Ballymena met them earlier in the season and lost 13-18.
But Graham is confident his side will be up for it and get something from the clash.
It was back on December 3 last year when they played.
Since then Ballymena won the Kyle Cup - beating Dungannon 65-14 at Eaton Park in the annual fixture.
They then scored two successive Ulster League wins - beating Banbridge 26-15 at home and Dungannnon 24-5 away.
They hoped to have made it three wins out of three at the weekend, but as already mentioned the home game with Armagh was postponed due to the weather.
