GOALS from striker Cathair Friel and full-back Tony Kane made it a 'derby' delight for Ballymena United.
Friel powered in a looping header in the 10th minute, and not to be outdone defender Kane curled in a superb shot from distance which flew in past 'keeper Chris Johns.
Five minutes into the game captain Jim Ervin made a superb tackle as striker Brad Lyons was about to unleash a shot on target from close range.
United broke the deadlock, Friel sending in a looping header from a Kane cross from the right.
Good work by Lyons carved a chance for Darren McAuley but he blazed well over.
At the other end Friel poked in a shot on goal, this time Lyndon Kane was on the line to kick clear.
Four minutes before half time Lyons missed a golden chance to equalise, powering a free header from a Neil McCafferty corner just wide of the mark.
Friel, taking a neat lay off from Johnny McMurray, threaded in a shot which curled through a busy area and struck the base of the post!
In the 44th minute United added a second - a stunning effort from Kane after being set up by the tireless 'man of the match' William Faulkner.
Coleraine had a chance to pull one back a minute into the second half, Ian Parkhill's shot being touched round the base of the post by 'keeper Ross Glendinning - a vital stop.
