George wins All Ireland crown thumbnailGeorge Courtney: newly crowed champion.

GEORGE Courtney, from Ballymena's Institute of Mixed Martial Arts (IMMA) gym, is the newly crowed All Ireland featherweight champion, writes Shaun O'Neill.
The 28-year-old brickie, from Galgorm, beat Paul Aylmer (32), from Cork's BJJ and MMA club, in the Akuma co-main event in the Templeton Hotel, Templepatrick.
Courtney totally dominated and out worked his tough opponent, who was the Irish No. 1 contender.
He came out very aggressive and strong at the start landing solid, heavy leg kicks, really hurting his opponent.
In Round 2 Courtney came out sharp as a pin and landing a crisp cross-hook combo rocking his guy again then getting into the clinch area, dirty boxing to set up the takedown where they spent the rest of the round with Courtney controlling and working hard for his 'secret' submission.
Round 3 went pretty much the same as round 2 with Courtney keeping on the pressure and pushed the pace forcing his guy out of his game plan and comfort zone.
Head coach at Ballymena IMMA, Rodney Moore, said it was the best he had ever seen Courtney fight!
