THE 2017 Mid-Antrim 150 road race around the Clough circuit has been AXED, writes Shaun O'Neill.
News of the organisers' decision not to hold the meeting next year was announced on Saturday night at Eaton Park in Ballymena.
Speaking to Guardian Sport yesterday morning (Monday) Mid-Antrim 150 Chairman Jack Agnew confirmed that the race meeting would not be taking place in 2017.
“I am disappointed the Mid Antrim race meeting is not happening next year," he told Guardian Sport.
“The club, which appointed a new management team of Directors at our Annual General Meeting last month, does intending getting the show on the road again in 2018."
Mr. Agnew stressed that the club is on a very sound financial footing.
But Guardian Sport understands they they took quite a hit at this year's Mid Antrim 150 which was almost wiped out due to the weather.
In a statement from Mid Antrim 150 they pointed out that the 2016 meeting was 'dogged with heavy rain prior to race day which resulted in the paddock turning into a quagmire, and a poor crowd attending the event.'
The statement continued - 'The Club however stressed that plans are in place to return the Race back in 2018 and to become a regular event on the calendar.'
