Standing room only at Con Magee’s Centenary book launch

IT was standing room only at Con Magees Glenravel complex when the GAA President Aogan O Fearghail came to town for the launch of the clubs Centenary history publication.
Aptly named "One hundred years of Gaelic culture in an Antrim Glen", the 372 page publication is just as it states on the tin.
Beautifully produced and illustrated and covering every aspect of life in the village and surrounding area, it is something the club should feel pleased and proud about.
While practically everyone in the locality is involved in some way it was left to an Editorial committee to get on with the enormous task of stringing everything together. And what a magnificent publication they have produced.
Club President Shaun McLaughlin was joined by Kevin Carey, Dominic O'Loan, Gerard Higgins, John "Curly" McIlwaine , Ronan McCann and Marie Kerr, everything going through her word processing fingers, this mammoth task took endless hours of work in what became a labour of love.
Indeed it involved a search and "dig" to find the grave of Con Magee, after whom the club is named, at the ancient church of Skerry near Broughshane.
