WHEN Ballymena man Trevor Magee witnessed his cousin's battle with cancer, he was inspired to do something extraordinary to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Having recently becoming something of a cycling convert, Trevor hit on the idea of completing the Cross Florida Ride, a 170-mile cycle from east to west Florida in just one day!
Spurred on by the support of friends and family, Trevor flew over to the sunshine state in mid-March, where he trained every day with a group of local cyclists he got to know during his time there.
On April 3 he set off on his epic cycle and just 9 hours later, his monumental challenge was complete.
Explaining what encouraged him to get involved, Trevor said: "Having seen first-hand the fantastic work carried out by the Macmillan team at Antrim Area Hospital really spurred me on to do something amazing for them. They couldn't do enough for my cousin and I wanted to do something in return.
“Unfortunately very few of us now haven't been affected by cancer, more and more people have had a diagnosis within their family and almost everyone you talk to knows a friend, loved one or colleague who has fought, or is fighting a cancer battle.
