Ballymena book place inn Linden Cup final

Thursday, 3 November 2016

BALLYMENA travelled to Deramore at the weekend for their match against Portrush in the semi-final of the Linden Cup.
After a slow start by Ballymena and several key saves by keeper Eddie Hampton, Ballymena were first to register on the score sheet
with a fine finish from Mark Allison after a penalty corner routine.
Portrush then had a series of penalty corners where Hampton again remained defiant in goals, until the fourth attempt when Portrush finally drew level!
No sooner had Portrush pulled level than Ballymena countered and Fulton put McKeown through one-on-one with the Portrush keeper and McKeown made no mistake for a 2-1 lead.
After the break Allison added his second and Ballymena's third with a well timed reverse strike. Portrush did pull one back late in the game but after temporarily
losing two players for dissent Ballymena were able to see the game out and proceed to the final.
Team: E Hampton, A Linford, A Bell, R McNabb, D McDonald, E Archer, P Beattie, M Allison, C Fulton, A Lorimer, A McKeown, S Glass, M O'Neill.
