Joe Rea: boxing for the title of middleweight PrizeFighter 2008 and a £25,000 jackpot!
Ballymena professional middleweight boxer Joe 'Sugar' Rea competes against the cream of young British talent for the title of middleweight PrizeFighter 2008 and a £25,000 jackpot live on Sky Box Office on Saturday (November 22).
The 25-year-old Fisherwick fighter is developing an ever increasing legion of admirers within the sport.
He looks destined for a high profile this year after relocating his base from America back to the Province under the watchful eyes of trainer Mickey Ward.
Rea has been mixing in good company in the build up to this contest, training alongside Heavyweight PrizeFighter winner Martin Rogan in the world famous Breens Gym in Belfast.
The Ballymena boxer is ambitious about his plans for Saturday night's showdown at York Hall, Bethnal Green, in London.
"This is one of the amazing opportunities that life throws at you and I will hopefully be taking full advantage of it," he told Guardian Sport.
“I want this more than anyone else in the competition and fee I have a genuinely realistic chance of winning."
Trainer John Breen said Rea is in tremendous shape.
“He is always a hard worker in the gym, but for this fight in particular, he has worked his socks off and will be looking to make quite an impression," said Breen.
Success in this competition will mean a genuine crack at a British title within one year.
Previous winners have gone on to lucrative and high profile competitions.
The contest will be featured as part of the buildup to Ricky Hattons latest contest against Paulie Malignaggi.
