Ten-year-old Hannah Henderson finished third in the British Young Masters Golf Ping Junior championships in Telford last week.
The Broughshane girl attended the tournament, which was played at Telford Spa and Resort last Wednesday, with her mother Jennifer.
Naturally Hannah was delighted with her very impressive performance against other top young players from all over the UK and Ireland.
Overall winner was 12-year-old Kyra Horlock while runner-up was the current under-11 UK and European champion, Eloise Healey.
Hannah, a pupil at Broughshane Primary School, is playing off a handicap of 23.
She is now eligible to compete against women in senior tournaments!
Her other main achievements this year have been -
* winning the Antrim All Ireland Girls
* finishing seventh in the European Championships under 11 girls in Gullane, Scotland
* winning the HSBC WeeWonders Irish Final at Slieve Russell in July
* finishing in the top 30 out of all the best under 18 players in Ireland at the Ulster Girls Championships at Lisburn in July
* and getting her handicap down to 23
Hannah and her parents are very grateful for all the support they have been given by the Principal and staff at Broughshane Primary School, her coach Michael Bannon at Bangor and the encouragement and help from Colin Lyttle at Ballyclare GC and Ken Revie at Ballymena GC.
Special praise also goes to Mrs. Margaret Baird, of Royal Portrush and Ballyclare GC, for helping Hannah develop her golf over the past couple of years.
Hannah belongs to three clubs - Ballymena, Ballyclare and Royal Portrush.
The former 'Wee Wonders' champion is off to the States next year to compete in the World Championships at Pinehurst, North Carolina.
Despite giving away a couple of years on her opponents Hannah intends flying the flag in style for the Borough of Ballymena.
