Ballymena Mayor Maurice Mills tries Jeff Shaw’s 125cc Racing machine for size at the launch of the Mid Antrim 150. Incuded are officials of the Motorcycle Section and Ballymena Council’s Sean Trainor.
THE Mid-Antrim '150' road racing meeting takes place over the Clough circuit on Saturday - with competitors battling it out for over £9,000 in prize money.
Roads close 10.00am, first race 10.45am.
Start/finish for the nine race meeting, which is costing in the region of £80,000 to run, is in Clough village.
There will also be the annual Parade Lap for riders and machines past and present.
Roads will close at 4pm on Friday to allow for the nine practice sessions required. They re-open at 9.30pm.
At last week's Mid-Antrim 150 press conference race secretary Derek McWhirter spoke of the increasing costs involved promoting the event.
“We depend more and more on the generosity of our valued sponsors to enable us to keep the races going. The club cannot thank our sponsors enough," he said.
The secretary said this year's event has greatly benefited by the support of Ballymena Borough Council.
"Ballymena Council's involvement is appreciated by the club as we strive to make the Mid Antrim 150 the top national road race in the racing calendar," said Derek.
Thanks also went to Ballymena Borough Council for their help and support, and to the Mayor, Councillor Maurice Mills, who attended the press conference.
