Worthy set for NI stay

After weeks of speculation about his future Nigel Worthington is expected to sign a new deal as Northern Ireland manager this week.
The Ballymena man's contract with the Irish FA expired in November and there had been rumours linking Worthington to the manager's position at English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.
But after negotiations last week with IFA president Raymond Kennedy it looks like Worthy is set to lead Northern Ireland into the European Championship qualifiers which begin later this year.
The former Norwich City manager and Ballymena United player had originally been approached about an extension in the summer but chose to postpone discussions until the World Cup qualifying campaign ended.
After a tremendous effort Northern Ireland just fell short of a place in South Africa this summer.
