THE ongoing public battle against the litter louts continued at the weekend with a major clean-up taking place in the rural hinterland of Ahoghill.
Council supported local St. Mary's GA/CC in Ahoghill to undertake a 'Live Here Love Here BIG Spring clean-up' at Cross Keys, Ballylummin, Clooney areas and the Drumrammer Road in Ahoghill.
This clean-up was once again supported by Tesco.
Council were impressed with the turn out by both the club and by the local residents.
Over 64 black bags of litter was collected. A big shout out must go to all the children who took part, who lead from the front and had fun doing so with their oversized hi-viz waistcoats on!
Leading by example was Councillor Patrice Hardy.
She was delighted at the turnout and help given by Council.
“The frustration at those who persist in lobbing waste from their vehicles across our Borough is growing," she said.  "The Live Here Love Here / MEA signage has been left there for a couple of days - let's see if this will be a deterrent!"
