THE sun shone brightly for the official opening of the new  new facilities at Tullygarley's state of the art play park.
It may have been a little nippy but that didn't stop local children turning out in good numbers for the special occasion.
The nature-themed park is beside the community centre on the old Tullygarley Road and incorporates a broad range of fun and innovative play equipment for children aged 3 to 12.
There is also inclusive equipment for children with a range of abilities.
The park was officially opened with a council delegation in attendance and a range of entertainers to kick off the celebrations.
Speaking at the launch, Mayor of Mid and East Antrim, Cllr Paul Reid said: "This fantastic new play park shows Council's commitment to inclusive play.
“Our play areas are important educational and recreational resources which can be enjoyed by children of all abilities.
Alderman John Carson, who campaigned for improvements at Tullygarley for many years added: "I am delighted to see this new Tullygarley Play Area officially opened.
“It really does have something for everyone and can be enjoyed by local families for years to come."
Mid and East Antrim Borough Council is in the process of developing a new Play Strategy for the borough and has already committed to a Play Pledge for the area wich sets out its commitment to play in Mid and East Antrim.
