BALLYMENA Road Club is pleased to confirm that Chain Reaction Cycles Belfast Store have signed up to a new sponsorship deal with them.
Club Chairman Paul Murdoch and Chain Reaction Cycles Belfast Store Manager, Stephen Laird signed the new deal last week, which will run to the end of the 2018 season.
Meanwhile, BRC handcyclist Darrell Erwin collected the top award in his category at the Mid & East Antrim Council Sports Awards Dinner last week.
 He deservedly came out on top in the 'Sports Team/Person with a disability' category, fighting off stiff competition from four  other nominees.
His consistent performances throughout 2017, followed a long period of injury, saw him  made a remarkable comeback to the handcycling racing scene last year.
After five years of struggling with a  leg injury which  required surgery, he  hasn't looked back since returning to training back in November 2016.
"I required surgery on a problem with my leg in June 2016 after suffering for nearly 5 years with it and have felt like a new man since then."
The Cycling Ireland race season eventually got started on Saturday past after the previous weekend being cancelled due to the weather.
Spires CC held their Grand Prix and BRC had a great turnout of racers over the various races.
The club had mixed fortunes in the A4 race with two cyclists taking a tumble, one due to conditions of the road surface, and the other in the sprint for the finish line but everyone was ok.
Ryan Beech finished 2nd in the A4 race with Sammy Foster taking a top 10 finish.
Big well done to first timer racer David Sloan who rode a strong race.
Ballymena Road Club had cyclists racing at the John Haldane race organised by Newry Wheelers on Sunday with six racers taking part and showing the club colours off in the various races.
