LOCAL Hot Rod racer  Karl Sloan made a successful start to 2018 with a heat and final double victory at Ballymena Raceway on New Year's Day!
The National Hot Rod ace from Kells was on top form at this festive fixture and his brace of victories earned him the Winter National Trophy
Sloan began his afternoon with an impressive win in the opening heat before Broughshane's Jaimie McCurdy steered his Ginetta to a well-judged success in race two.
The pair could not be separated after their performances in the qualifying heats so a draw was required to determine pole position for the final, which went in favour of McCurdy, with Sloan's TorqueTronix Vauxhall Tigra alongside on the front row.
