WITH the water fairly calm and on a showery but nippy New Years Day, as 12noon struck, a total of 91 hardy souls plunged into the water at Carnlough Harbour.
Geoff Bell, on his 46th swim, was aided by Bert Kernohan on his 40th,  Darren Donnell, Hugo Clements and Angela McClements.
Among the swimmers were visitors, sisters Leah and Sarah Hamilton from Canada, father and son Leonardo and Ryan Maffioli from Switzerland, Dario Barsolini from Italy plus, Alan Trainor from Donegal and Arthur Chatfield from Scotland on their yearly pilgrimage.
A number of families were taking part and among them were, the Gilmores, Montel, Craig, Eddie, Scott and Stuart, the Moss family Audrey, Andrew, Jamie and Craig, the Farquhar family Chloe, Jodie and Drew, the McKavanagh family Katie, Catriona and Conor, the Kernohan family Bert, Andrew and Dana.
The swimmers had hundreds of spectators in attendance to watch them taking the plunge and there keeping a watchful eye on everyone were members of our loyal supporters - the Larne Branch of the Saint John's Ambulance.
