Thursday, 7 September 2017

BALLYMENA four-year-old, Joe Lamont is said to be "recovering well" after receiving a second organ from his mother.
As featured in the Guardian two weeks ago, Joe and his mum Sarah drom Deramore Gardens travelled to Birmingham recently so the mum-of-three could donate her kidney to Joe in the hope it will help to save his life.
In January Sarah also donated part of her liver after she was told she was a match late last year.
In what has been an incredible journey for the family, Sarah said she is overwhelmed to have got to this point and is "so happy" she could help her little boy.
She said: "From the minute they put my kidney into Joe it started to work. It did stop for a short period but after they worked with it, it started again.
“We are both a little bit sore at the minute but with plenty of rest we will heal."
